NAATI CCL Exam Format
NAATI CCL Test takes about 20 minutes and includes different languages, such as Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu, Nepali, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Gujarati. Test includes two dialogues that simulate real-life situations in Australian communities. Each dialogue involves one English-speaking person and one person speaking in the other language, representing situations that could happen in healthcare, legal help, social services, or education.
Each dialogue is about 300 words long, split evenly between the two languages, and is broken into short segments of 30 to 35 words. Candidates listen to each segment, then interpret it into the other language. If needed, they can request one repetition per dialogue, but only once.
NAATI test is scored based on several factors: accuracy, meaning candidates must keep the original meaning clear and accurate; completeness, where they should avoid omitting or adding information; language quality, which checks for good grammar and clear phrasing in both languages; cultural understanding, since interpreting expressions accurately may require cultural knowledge; and fluency, meaning that candidates should interpret smoothly, without long pauses or hesitation.
Results for CCL test are typically available within 4–6 weeks, and those who do not pass can retake the test after a waiting period, though they will need to pay the fee again.
